From the initial design meeting to the delivery of construction documents, our process has been refined to give you a smooth, streamlined custom home design experience. Every design project presents unique challenges and design parameters. That’s why our design professionals will manage your project from start to finish, ensuring that every step of the process is completed efficiently and that you receive plans for a home that is within your build budget. Along the way, we’ll be there to educate and answer any questions you may have, as well as help with any design decisions you need to make.

It Starts With A Free Design Consultation
We start our projects by offering a free, no-obligation design consultation. We understand that every client has a unique style and vision for their home, as well as specific monetary and logistical restrictions. During this meeting, one of our design professionals will get an understanding of your stylistic preferences and determine the scope of your project. You’ll be able to view examples of floor plans that may work for your lot and act as design inspiration for your custom layout.

What Comes Next?

Phase 1
Initial Design & Revisions
Once the scope of the project has been agreed upon, our design team will begin the process of creating your custom design. During this phase, our team is focused on designing the fundamental site and floor plans for your home.
Within approximately 14 days, you will receive the initial design for your review. Once you have reviewed the design, you will meet with your design specialist to discuss the first round of revisions. During the revision meeting, your design specialist will annotate your plans, highlighting any aspects of the design you wish to be changed.

Phase 2
Exterior Design
Once the site and floor plan revisions have been approved, our team will use agreed-upon floor plans to begin the process of designing the exterior of your home.
Within approximately 14 days, you will be presented with a vividly detailed 3D model of our exterior design for your review. Once you have reviewed the design, you’ll meet with your design specialist to discuss any revisions you would like to make to the exterior of your home.

Phase 3
Construction Documents
Once the site plan, floor plan, and exterior design have been approved, our team can begin the process of developing the final plan set, which includes an extensive engineering inspection ensuring that you are delivered buildable construction documents.
Within approximately 14-21 days you will receive custom plans for your design that include site, floor, roof framing, exterior elevations (all 4 views), typical wall sections, specifications, and electrical plans.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does designing a custom home cost?
Our prices start at $3.00/Sqft; however, depending on the complexity and scope of the project, the price per square foot may increase.
How long does the design process take?
We like to work at our client’s pace and on average most of our projects take roughly 90 days from proposal to construction doc delivery.
During the design process, most of the holdups come during the revision phases, as decisions need to be made and elements of the design need to be signed off on. There are big decisions to be made during the design process and we allow all the time needed to make those decisions.
Once revisions have been finalized, and plans have been signed off on, we work diligently to finalize and deliver your construction documents as efficiently as possible.
How many revisions do I get?
Our plans are fully custom, and we want you to love the house that we design for you, that’s why we offer a set of revisions during each phase of the project.
Additional sets of revisions are possible but will incur additional charges.
Can you design homes outside of Louisiana?
Yes, from New York to Washington to Texas, we’ve had the pleasure of working with clients from across the country.
Do you supervise during the building process?
No, all supervision during the construction phase is handled by your builder; however, we do communicate with them as needed to help them ensure the home is built to your design specifications.
Do I have to provide you with anything?
Yes, in order to deliver buildable construction documents, you will need to provide us with accurate plot/site information in the form of a land survey and construction benchmarks (i.e property size, building setbacks, elevation requirements, site utilities, soil information, etc).
Will you help us during our subdivision review?
Yes, we have designed homes in most of the major subdivisions throughout Louisiana, and we are familiar with most of their requirements.
As a courtesy to you, we will submit all the necessary documents to your subdivision review committee, so that your plans are approved as quickly as possible.
